I am always happy to have the opportunity to speak at a gathering of industry members. The following list includes some seminars I have developed for 2014. 1.)    Displaying Diamonds the right way!

Diamonds are the most important sales category for most jewelers. If they are displayed properly, you will sell more. The big question is how to display them in a way that fits your selection and your sales presentation. How many should you show, What kind of groupings, What kind of lighting, What kind of signage do I need, Where do I put loose stones, What about backstock?  In this seminar, Larry Johnson, author of “The complete guide to effective jewelry display” will answer these questions and then show you several popular approaches that are proven successful to displaying your diamond case. Many store owners come to a show or seminar and learn how best to display their merchandise but somehow when they get back to the store, they can’t seem to get everyone onboard. In this seminar, Larry Johnson, author of “The complete guide to effective jewelry display” will cover the major points you’ll want to communicate to your team about display techniques and literally give you the tools you’ll need to get your message across. 4.)    What do I run on my store’s flat panel monitor to increase sales?

Most stores now have a flat screen monitor on the wall. The problem is it is running a short loop of images from some supplier over and over again and not attracting much attention. In this seminar, Larry Johnson, author of “The complete guide to effective jewelry display” will cover the major points you’ll want to communicate to your customers through this powerful tool. He’ll show you how to create a slideshow that will direct your customers to the selling points and merchandise you want them to see and remember. Johnson will show you where to get images and ideas for your slideshow. He will offer a calendar of slideshow themes for the rest of 2014 to keep your show timely throughout the year.

5.)    The top 10 list of mistakes jewelers make in displaying their jewelry and how to avoid them

Successful retailers follow the basic proven methods of displaying jewelry to sell.  Independent jewelers often fall into bad habits over time and end up with a store that misses sales as a result. In this seminar, Larry Johnson will outline and illustrate the 10 most commonly made mistakes and provide simple solutions to attendees on how to fix them and avoid similar mistakes in the future.

6.)    A 5 step, 10 week plan to get your store’s displays into selling shape. 

Making changes to a stores display strategy can be overwhelming. This seminar breaks down the 5 steps to improvement into easy steps that can be individually implemented, each in a 2 week timeframe, over a total 10 week period. Rather than an “all at once” implementation, this plan allows the store staff ample time to absorb each of the changes before attacking the next one.

7.) Organizing your displays to match the flow of your sales presentation

A showcase is a “workbench” for the sales person. Just like the bench in your shop, it should be organized to facilitate the sale. This seminar discusses the normal flow of your sales presentation and the resulting arrangement of your case to maximize results. The sales strategies taught by Becka Kibby of the Edge Retail Academy are used as a basis for discussion.  This seminar does not suggest a fixed sales “spiel” by does recommend a common flow to the presentation used by the store staff.

8.) Getting your store displays ready for the upcoming Holiday selling season

The seminar is usually available to audiences for presentation after August 1. It focuses on specific steps the retailer can take to improve his presentation specifically for the Holiday selling season. Evaluation of selling space, special promotional ideas, Holiday trim, as well as other points are discussed. A calendar of dates for implementation is also provided.
